‘Vintage Roadster’ classic car seen at a local car show May 2023.

Not many artists show their mistakes when making a painting. This painting was a huge experiment which took a long time to finally admit defeat. Just as Jesus washes our sins white as snow, for this watercolour I used Daniel Smith Ground to eradicate some of the mistakes made when painting the US flag.

So, the painting has ended up as a mixed media painting with its additional ink pens.

It is painted on Arches paper ½ Imperial Sheet in a limited palette. I’m not happy with this one, however, amid the mistakes and learning, I can also see some good parts that I do like.

A good idea, alas, not the result I wanted and really glad to see the back of it. At the end of the day, it is only a piece of paper!
