At the start of this chilly year, I am drawn to thinking of warmer climates, so this was a good subject to paint even though I have not experienced the place first-hand.

It’s not always easy to paint from another person’s reference photo. Tip: Choose often to paint from own reference and memories not that of others.

The painting is 5cm x 5cm (10” x 10”) on trusty Bockingford ¼ Imperial size CP paper, using favourite limited palette of DS Paints and some visioneering.

I am looking forward to seeing where this year’s opportunities/adventures lead as I continue this journey into the wonderful world of art.
