‘Hidden Stream’ watercolour August 2026

Inspired, once again, from a visit to Browsholme Gardens, near Clitheroe, Lancashire.

Our visit took place on a dull, summer's day, I wanted to inject colour into the scene, so this is a vision of how I experienced it. It is painted on Baohong CP 100% cotton block and is almost a square approximately 10cm x 10cm or 8” x 8”.

It is fun to experiment with different formats, paper and tools, although I have stuck with my favourite Daniel Smith pigments. I may decide to paint it in a larger, landscape format later. For now, I trust it will give a sense of the place for you to enjoy. Perhaps, it may evoke some happy memories of your own time spent in green surroundings.
