February Newsletter 2026

Happy February Everyone despite the chilly, windy and wet Winter weather here in the UK.

I received this quote given by Dan Scott, (Draw Paint Academy) recently. Here it is:

‘Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty if only we have eyes to see them’
John Ruskin.

As cameras are renowned to distort reality, getting out in God’s creation to really see is so much better. Plein air work, it seems is the way to go…. Painting from life as it happens.

That seems to be a challenge worth doing. I do admire all artists who paint outside in any kind of weather, whether cold, wet and windy, or sunny, dry and calm. Personally, as yet, I have little experience of Plein Air painting. It is a good way of capturing nature’s light that draws me to experiment with more, however, not in extreme temperatures.

There are many plein air artists who inspire me, some of whom can be found in the link section of the website. Dan, is just one of them as he has recently been getting more and more involved in this challenging way to work.

Meanwhile, as time allows, I can be found in the warmth of my dedicated art space at home. Hopefully, friends, you too have a creative space to enjoy.
Until next time, stay healthy, safe and warm, Sandra xoxo
